Category : First Do No Harm
After giving it some thought, the Riddlin Kids should have kept their old name, Ritalin Kids. The band should have made the pharmaceutical company sue them. Can you just imagine how much publicity they could have gotten off that deal? They should have gone out and hired themselves an expensive publicist and a cheap lawyer that very day.
Then, after dragging the suit out for years, milking the publicity potential for all it's worth to promote their hugely successful band (the Ritalin Kids), and incessantly publicizing derogatory facts about Ritalin, the band could just drop the case and change their name to the Methylphenidates, making a big deal out of it of course.
Introducing the Methylphenidates, formerly known as the Ritalin Kids. What a hoot.
Or better yet, maybe the Ritalin kids could keep the suit dragging long enough that they could get the pharmaceutical to settle. Ransom of Red Chief kinda thing.
By the way there is precedent for adopting the name of a drug as part of the descriptive characteristics of the drug's side affects. Furthermore, if this group of kids calling themselves Ritalin Kids were from average American families and had all taken up Rhodes Scholarships, do you think the pharmaceutical company would have sued them, or hired them?
It will be interesting to observe over the next decade which category we find more groups of self-described Ritalin Kids.
Light shined in here 1 times.
