Category : Propaganda War
With the swift advent of "Electronic Publishing" and the very nature of the electronic record of record, so to speak, it seems there would be steady job turnover at some of these giant publishing houses, like the New York Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe and elsewhere.
How long till the vast majority of all consumers of news and / or literature acquire their product of choice over the internet? It is likely the simple majority may already be in this category. The publishers bogus circulation numbers however are designed to perpetrate the illusion that the liberal thought amongst the elites is also common amongst the illiteratti. This is important to them so they can continue to sell advertising while spewing their socialist crap.
The recent shift from pulp newspapers to on-line news outlets means that the owners of these huge publishing enterprises know exactly which writers are getting hits and which are not. Which stories are selling advertisement, and which are not. There will be no denying that nobody cares for what the old standard bearer of Page 6 has to say, no matter how well what he says fits the party line. Once again capitalism and free enterprise will drive the publishers to excel, as opposed to the good ole boy liberal hegemony that is inherent, and indeed dominates the conventional wisdom of public discourse.
As the circulation of the pulp versions of major so-called newspapers continues its steady decline into non-feasibility, staffing decisions will focus on who is being read as opposed to who best regurgitates the editorial positions of the publisher. Decisions will be based on who is producing most revenue, not on who is producing the best propaganda.
In the old model, if everyone was buying the paper for the sports section, the publishers and advertisers could glibly assume that the overall package, including the idiots on the editorial pages, were contributing to the overall success of the enterprise. There was no way to know what parts of the paper were being read, and what sections were primarily used for fishwrap and bird cage lining. Well, that is no longer the case.
But can you believe the major publishing outlets hit counts? Probably not. But you know they know. And soon the advertisers will know and a publisher wont be able to give away advertisement in their stupid papers.
Light shined in here 6 times.
